Online Application on the Fire Disaster Headquarters Website by Yourself or Your Child by the End of October
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced on the 17th that it will carry out a project to install residential fire alarms at the homes of parents living separately in Seoul in celebration of the Chuseok holiday.
The Fire and Disaster Headquarters plans to install residential fire alarms in homes without fire safety equipment among households where citizens aged 65 or older reside. Eligible applicants or their family members can apply through the Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters website by the end of October.
Among the applicants, 500 households will have residential fire alarms installed after on-site verification by the local fire station, and installation photos will be sent to the applicants. Safety consultations for fire prevention will also be conducted during the installation visits.
Meanwhile, since 2010, the Fire and Disaster Headquarters has invested 6.2 billion KRW over 12 years to provide free residential fire safety equipment to approximately 167,000 households vulnerable to fire, including basic livelihood security recipients, low-income groups, and elderly living alone.
Choi Tae-young, head of the Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters, said, “We hope that applying for residential fire alarm installation during the Chuseok holiday will be an opportunity to give the gift of safety to parents,” and added, “We will continue to promote such community-based safety projects.”
