Gwangju Seobu Fire Department Operates Reward System for Reporting Illegal Acts Such as Emergency Exit Closures

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangju Western Fire Station announced on the 16th that it will operate a reward system for reporting illegal activities such as emergency exit closures.


The reporting targets include multi-use facilities, sales facilities (large marts, specialty stores, department stores, shopping centers, complex shopping malls), complex buildings (limited to those including sales and lodging purposes), transportation facilities, lodging facilities, neighborhood living facilities, elderly and childcare facilities, cultural assembly facilities, medical facilities, and entertainment facilities.


Illegal activities refer to ▲closure (including locking) and blocking of main entrances and emergency exits ▲closure, damage, and installation of obstacles in corridors, stairs, and entrances, blocking and neglect of fire-fighting facilities.


Anyone can report, and by attaching supporting materials (such as photos) to the report form, it can be submitted to the fire station with jurisdiction over the location via visit, mail, or fax.


Reporters will receive a reward of 50,000 KRW per report (in cash, traditional market Onnuri gift certificates, or Gwangju Metropolitan City local currency). The reward cannot exceed 200,000 KRW per person per month or 2,000,000 KRW per year.


A fire official requested, “We ask for your great interest so that illegal activities such as emergency exit closures can be eradicated through many reports from citizens.”
