[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The Korea Communications Agency (KCA) announced on the 16th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hyundai Department Store Group to strengthen Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management through public-private joint cooperation.

This agreement was made as Hyundai Department Store Group participated as a platform company in the 'Digital Media Content Business Matching Day' hosted by KCA last April, seeking various collaboration methods.

With this agreement, KCA and Hyundai Department Store Group plan to combine their specialized capabilities and know-how from both public and private sectors to enhance synergy in ESG management activities such as practicing carbon neutrality and supporting small and medium ventures and regional development.

The main contents of the agreement include ▲establishing a leading ESG management model and sharing best practices ▲creating social value based on nationwide infrastructure and capabilities ▲supporting mutual growth linked with startups and small and medium ventures.

Jung Han-geun, President of KCA, said, “KCA and Hyundai Department Store Group share a common denominator of having achieved half a century of accomplishments in their respective fields,” adding, “We will create a successful collaboration model for ESG management through cooperative will that transcends public and private sectors.”

Meanwhile, KCA, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, plans to produce and utilize eco-friendly shopping bags developed by Hyundai Department Store Group using a waste resource recycling method, applying the 50th anniversary commemorative shopping bag design.
