Students from Busan Sujeong Elementary School volleyball team are taking a group commemorative photo after winning the runner-up prize at the '1st Ttangkkeut Haenam National Elementary School Volleyball Tournament'.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The volleyball team of Sujeong Elementary School in Dong-gu, Busan, won the runner-up title in the girls' under-13 category at the "1st Ttangkkeut Haenam National Elementary School Volleyball Tournament" held from July 28 to August 2.
The volleyball team advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating Ansan Seo Elementary School and Mokpo Hadang Elementary School, then advanced to the semifinals by beating Chungnam Ssangyong Elementary School without losing a set.
In the semifinals, they won against Gyeongbuk Yulgok Elementary School with a set score of 2:1 and reached the finals, but unfortunately lost to Daegu Samdeok Elementary School, finishing as the runner-up.
The volleyball players also earned individual titles, including the Outstanding Player Award for Jang Su-in and the Best Attacker Award for Moon Tiara.
Coach Shin Su-min of Sujeong Elementary School said, "Emphasizing the basics during regular training and instilling confidence in the players seems to have resulted in many creative plays during the matches," adding, "I am very grateful to the players who have trained with such concentration."
Founded in 1999, the Sujeong Elementary School volleyball team achieved its first national tournament victory last year, seven years after Coach Shin Su-min took charge in 2014.
