[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Dong-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 16th that it conducted the first job competency enhancement legislative training since the opening of the 9th Dong-gu Council.
The training, held over two days starting from the 11th for all council members and staff of the council secretariat, was designed with various lectures including professional knowledge necessary for legislative work such as budget and settlement analysis and administrative audit techniques, as well as urban regeneration lectures to help understand current projects in Dong-gu.
In particular, the lectures conducted over two days attracted attention as they consisted purely of lectures without accommodation or tourism within the district.
The training invited four experts and was composed of practical lectures including ▲ practical techniques for budget and settlement review ▲ key points for administrative audit ▲ core techniques for the enactment, revision, and abolition of ordinances ▲ council operation and strategies and methods for legislative activities.
Through this, it is expected to help more substantial legislative activities such as reviewing next year’s budget proposal, administrative audits, and district government questions through the 1st and 2nd regular meetings and extraordinary meetings scheduled for the second half of the year.
Choi In-hye, the instructor who gave the lecture on budget and settlement review techniques, said, "Perhaps because first-term council members make up the majority, I was impressed by how attentively the members listened compared to any other council lecture," adding, "I hope today’s lecture can be of some help to the Dong-gu Council members in their four years of legislative activities."
Chairman Kim Jae-sik said, "The first training of the 9th council was successfully completed with the enthusiastic interest and participation of the members," and added, "I expect this training to greatly contribute to future legislative activities by improving members’ qualifications and strengthening expertise, thereby enhancing the quality of life of residents."
