Yoon Hyung-won, Director of the National Buyeo Museum, Awarded Mongolia's 'Polar Star Order'... 'Contributing to the Archaeological Development of Both Countries'

[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] On the 16th, the National Buyeo Museum announced that Director Yoon Hyung-won received the Order of the Polar Star, the highest foreign friendship medal, from Mongolian President Khurelsukh on the 6th. This award recognizes his efforts over the past 26 years in advancing archaeology between Mongolia and the Republic of Korea.

Since 1997, Director Yoon has served as the Korean team leader for the Korea-Mongolia joint academic survey project (Mon-Sol Project), conducting archaeological excavations of Xiongnu sites such as 'Morintolgoi' and 'Hodgintolgoi.' He also planned and promoted special exhibitions like 'Five Years of Mongolian Site Surveys' and international academic symposiums such as 'The Great Empire of the Steppe - Xiongnu.' Furthermore, he published specialized research works on Mongolia and Central Asia, including 'Collection of Mongolian Xiongnu Tomb Data' and 'Introduction to Xiongnu Archaeology,' which have broadened the research horizons of Korean archaeologists.
