Woo Sang-ho "President Yoon's First 100 Days 'Failing Grade'... Ruling Party's Internal Conflict 'Unable to Focus, Fighting Over Positions'"

"Fairness and Common Sense" Leading Brand Broken... Difficult to Overcome Quickly
Tomorrow's 100-Day Press Conference Should Include Honest Reflections
Directed at People Power Party: "The Ruling Party That Won the Election Is Losing Focus and Fighting Over Power and Positions"

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Woo Sang-ho, Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 16th regarding President Yoon Seok-yeol's 100-day inauguration evaluation, "The fact that even those who supported him have withdrawn their support means that he has made many serious mistakes, so it is difficult to give a good score," adding, "It seems that he has indeed received a failing grade."

On the same day, Woo appeared on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' and said, "The most painful issue is that Yoon Seok-yeol's signature brand of 'fairness and common sense' has been broken."

Woo pointed out, "The problem of not distinguishing between public and private affairs in personnel appointments and the fact that appointments were too centered on the prosecution violated the standards of fairness and common sense, which disappointed the public." He also said, "The president's wife’s involvement in various public and private affairs and personnel matters also reflects a failure to distinguish between public and private, fundamentally showing a lack of public-mindedness and destroying the brand of fairness and common sense. These were key factors that caused even allies to be disappointed," and predicted that it would be difficult to overcome these problems in a short period.

Woo said, "It is very important to correct these issues now, but it seems that the attitude toward criticism of these problems is not well accepted," adding, "I think it will be difficult to overcome them in a short time."

Regarding personnel reform, he criticized, "(President Yoon) will try to reinforce personnel after returning from vacation, right? But putting former lawmaker Kim Eun-hye in the publicity department?how can that be called personnel reform? How can reinforcement be reform?"

Woo judged that the basic trust in President Yoon has collapsed, analyzing, "A certain withdrawal of support can be restored again, but if structured disappointment lasts long, recovery is difficult."

He advised that at the 100-day press conference tomorrow (17th), it is necessary to honestly acknowledge the shortcomings with sincere reflections and talk about how to change the problematic points.

Woo emphasized, "It is not important to work hard, but the direction must be good and right," adding, "It is not a matter of feeling unfair about working hard, but an effort to evaluate what was wrong with the direction is needed."

Regarding the internal strife within the People Power Party, he defined it as a "power struggle," harshly criticizing, "After winning the presidential and local elections, the ruling party that won the elections is still fighting over their own interests without getting their act together."

He said, "They owed their position to Representative Lee Jun-seok and changed the regime, but since they did not like him, they tried to remove him. After removing him, they are fighting over who will take the lead. The ruling party is so noisy inside that it makes one worry whether they have even the minimum fear of the people. Such behavior is also truly subject to judgment," he condemned.
