[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization is set to actively engage in policy cooperation to discover and commercialize tourism issues in cities and counties within the province.
The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization announced on the 16th that it has decided to promote the "Gyeonggi-do Linked Cooperative Tourism Policy Support Project" this year and recently finalized policy tasks for four regions: Pocheon, Ansan, Yeoju, and Yeoncheon.
The main selected tasks include ▲ the autonomous task-type activation of the Pocheon Doridol Ecological Experience Center operation ▲ the establishment of the permanent folk village of Kim Hong-do in Ansan ▲ the operation of the Yeoncheon city tour business, and the entrusted project-type Yeoju Gangcheon Island attraction development project.
The Pocheon "Activation of Doridol Ecological Experience Center Operation" project involves revitalizing aging rural village development facilities and developing tourism content for the Doridol Ecological Experience Center to support applications for government public projects.
The Ansan "Establishment of the Permanent Folk Village of Kim Hong-do" is a project to develop suitable tourism content and linked products with surrounding tourist attractions for the permanent folk village of Kim Hong-do, which Ansan City plans to establish.
The Yeoncheon "City Tour Operation" project focuses on optimizing routes and finding linkage plans with other cities and counties for the city tour, which plans to resume operation following the scheduled extension opening of Subway Line 1 in the first half of next year.
The Yeoju "Gangcheon Island Attraction Development" project aims to create a cultural tourism cluster by utilizing the operation method of the Gangcheon Island Healing Center, scheduled for completion in October, and the island’s waterfront space.
The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization plans to derive customized consulting results through direct communication and on-site visits with cities and counties over the next three months regarding the selected policy tasks.
A representative of the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization stated, "We will strive to produce consulting results that the selected cities and counties can tangibly feel through active support," and emphasized, "We will promote the establishment of a solid cooperative relationship between the province, cities and counties, and the organization going forward."
Separately from the selected tasks, the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization plans to regularly hold tourism policy meetings among cities and counties in major regions to share solutions to current issues through mutual communication, jointly respond to government public projects, and discover linked cooperative projects.
