On Liberation Day afternoon, Billie Eilish held the ‘Hyundai Card Super Concert 26 Billie Eilish’ at Gocheok Sky Dome. Since her debut in 2015, Billie Eilish has been recognized globally for both musicality and popularity. She proved her talent by topping the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and Billboard 200 albums chart, and sweeping the Grammy Awards.
At the 62nd Grammy Awards, Billie Eilish was nominated in four major categories including Best New Artist, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year for her first full-length album, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?.
Hyundai Card resumed its Super Concert series with this Billie Eilish performance. The last concert was Queen’s stage in January 2020, and this was the first show in about two years and seven months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Billie Eilish, returning to Korea after four years, held this concert as part of the world tour for her second full-length album, Happier Than Ever, released last May.
Wearing a shirt with ‘Dead Or Alive’ written on it and jumping onto the stage with dazzling laser effects in the background, Billie Eilish performed a total of 24 songs starting with ‘Bury a Friend,’ followed by ‘NDA,’ ‘Therefore I Am,’ and more.
Shouting “Seoul!” to her Korean fans, Billie Eilish said, “I’m glad to see you again,” and shared her thoughts on her second visit to Korea, saying, “Your reaction is something I’ve never felt before in my life.” With bold fan service, Billie Eilish excited the crowd at Gocheok Dome, lying down on the floor for a daring performance and continuously encouraging cheers and sing-alongs, interacting closely with the audience.
Especially, when she sang ‘Lost Cause’ from her second album, she received a Taegeukgi (Korean national flag) handed from the audience in celebration of Liberation Day, and performed for the camera while holding it, which was met with enthusiastic cheers from the crowd. Billie Eilish also performed on Liberation Day during her first visit to Korea in 2018, delivering a similar performance then.
During the latter part of the concert, when she sang the global hit ‘Bad Guy,’ the audience’s sing-along and cheers reached a peak, intensifying the concert’s energy. After finishing the last song, Billie Eilish took the Taegeukgi again and bowed 90 degrees to the audience, concluding the performance.
Following the Korea concert, Billie Eilish will continue her Asia tour with shows in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on the 18th, Singapore on the 21st, Bangkok, Thailand on the 24th, and Tokyo, Japan on the 26th. A portion of the ticket sales revenue will be donated to the environmental organization REVERB, with one dollar from each ticket donated.
