Changwon City, Changwon Bell Ringing Ceremony Commemorating the 77th Anniversary of Liberation Day
To commemorate the 77th Liberation Day, Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, and others are ringing the Changwon Great Bell.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] On the 15th, the sound of the bell rang 33 times at Changwon Daejonggak in Yongho-dong, Uichang-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongnam.
Changwon Special City held the 77th Liberation Day commemorative Changwon Daejong bell-ringing event together with veterans' organizations such as the Liberation Association Changwon Branch and citizens on this day.
A city official said, “The bell-ringing ceremony was prepared to honor the noble patriotism of independence activists who carried out the independence movement with a single-minded determination to save the country without yielding to Japanese oppression, and to recall the hearts of the people and the spirit of liberation.”
The bell-ringing ceremony was attended by Mayor Hong Nampyo, National Assembly member Kim Youngseon, Changwon City Council Chairman Kim Igeun, Liberation Association Changwon Branch President Kim Dongcheol, and about 30 descendants of independence activists.
The city publicly recruited citizens to ring the bell together before the commemorative event, and on this day, 10 citizens participated in ringing the bell 33 times.
Mayor Hong said, “Through this Liberation Day bell-ringing event, I hope to share the joy of liberation 77 years ago and that the sound of the bell ringing at Changwon Daejonggak will become a great force for Changwon City to advance as a central city in Northeast Asia.”
