[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seohee] Jo Eunhye (24) maintained her lead on the second day of the KLPGA Tour Daeyu Winia·MBN Women's Open (total prize money 900 million KRW). She is one step closer to her first career 'wire-to-wire' victory.
On the 13th, at the Daeyu Montber Country Club in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province (par 72, 6,590 yards), Jo Eunhye recorded a 2-under-par 70 in the second round with 4 birdies and 2 bogeys. After shooting 9-under-par in the first round, she couldn't maintain the same sharp form as the previous day, but she calmly finished the round to keep her lead for the second consecutive day.
Starting with a bogey on the 1st hole (par 4), Jo quickly recovered with a birdie on the 2nd hole (par 4). She added birdies on the 4th hole (par 3) and the 7th hole (par 4), finishing the front nine at 2-under-par.
In the back nine, she struggled to lower her score. She made a bogey on the 12th hole (par 5), added a birdie on the 15th hole (par 3), and parred the remaining holes.
Jo Eunhye said, "There was fog and heavy rain in the middle, which caused me to lose concentration. My shots were shaky. But I am satisfied that I managed to hold it together with my putting. I will rest well and prepare for tomorrow."
Lee Soyoung, who started 4 strokes behind in second place, caught 6 birdies to narrow the gap to just 1 stroke behind the leader. She remains in second place (10-under-par 134).
Some players made significant jumps in the rankings. Ko Jiwoo (20) and Park Hyunkyung (22) each recorded 8-under-par scores to move up to the top ranks. Ko Jiwoo jumped 22 places to tie for 3rd (9-under-par 135). Lee Somi (23) also scored 4-under-par and is in this group.
Park Hyunkyung rose 37 places to 5th (8-under-par 136). The gap with Jo Eunhye is not large, so she is in a position to aim for a comeback victory.
