According to the Busan Nambu Police Station, a fire occurred on the 8th floor of an apartment located in Yongho-dong, Nam-gu, at around 8:16 PM on the 11th, prompting police and fire authorities to respond.

The cause of the fire was the explosion of an electric bicycle battery that was charging in the master bedroom, and a victim in the living room discovered it and reported the incident.

Due to the fire, about 100 residents evacuated, and 16 residents were transported to the hospital after inhaling smoke.

The fire was extinguished at around 8:37 PM, 21 minutes after the incident occurred.

A police official stated, “The overheating of the electric bicycle battery is presumed to be the cause of the fire,” and added, “The exact cause of the accident will be investigated.”
