[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] The Village Welfare Planning Promotion Team of Seogu-dong, Andong-si, Gyeongbuk, carried out the “Neonadeuli Seogu-dong Happy Table” project on the 11th together with the volunteer student group from Bokju Girls’ Middle School, targeting vulnerable groups at risk of food insecurity.

This project is one of the welfare agendas in the Seogu-dong Village Welfare Plan directly established by the ‘residents.’ It is a resident-led welfare project that delivers carefully prepared side dishes and health foods every month to neighbors in need, checks on their well-being, and shares neighborly affection.

This time, the “Happy Companion” volunteer group from Bokju Girls’ Middle School prepared mini fans worth about 500,000 KRW and delivered them along with side dishes to neighbors struggling with the heatwave, also checking on their well-being.

A student from Bokju Girls’ Middle School said, “Although we sweated a lot going here and there, I feel proud seeing the elders happy,” adding, “Although it is a small sharing, I hope it helps the elders have a healthy and cool summer even a little.”

Promotion Team Leader Lee Su-hyung said, “I hope that through the students’ sharing and volunteering, our marginalized neighbors can spend the hot summer more healthily,” and added, “The Seogu-dong Village Welfare Planning Promotion Team will do its best to ensure that precious sharing and warm interest for our marginalized neighbors continue to spread.”

The “Happy Companion” volunteer group consists of a total of 10 second- and third-year students from Bokju Girls’ Middle School. Since 2020, they have continuously practiced volunteering and sharing by conducting environmental cleanup activities around the school and delivering self-made talent donation items to marginalized neighbors.
