[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Convenience stores are releasing ultra-premium products worth tens of millions of won, such as mobile homes and electric vehicles, ahead of the Chuseok holiday.


On the 13th, CU introduced mobile homes priced between 15.6 million and 22.65 million won as unique Chuseok gifts this year. The lineup consists of three types of duplex homes including a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and attic, and one type of single-story home. Limited quantities of luxury plants are also being sold. Seven types are prepared, including Monstera Albo (2.9 million won), known for its unique leaf patterns and high rarity value, Patterned Adansonii (1.15 million won), and Olive trees (759,000 won). Customers can also purchase LG Electronics’ plant cultivation home appliances, the Tiun Objet Collection (1.39 million won) and Tiun Mini (189,000 won).


GS25’s highest-priced products are wines. They offer four types of Dom P?rignon P3 champagnes, the epitome of luxury champagne, including Dom P?rignon P3 1971 (25.69 million won) and Dom P?rignon P3 1973 (25.69 million won), all from the P3 (Plenitude) line aged over 20 years. They also launched two vintage collections: the 2006 Vintage Collection (25.5 million won) and the 2007 Vintage Collection (24.5 million won), consisting of nine wines including five that received perfect 100-point scores from renowned wine critic Robert Parker.


Seven Eleven sells about 20 types of luxury brand bags and wallets from Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Prada, and others. They also offer premium meat sets such as antibiotic-free Korean beef luxury set (400,000 won) and antibiotic-free Korean beef sincerity set (200,000 won), as well as premium wines like Ch?teau Lafite Rothschild 17 Vintage (1.7 million won) and single malt whiskies.

Emart24 partnered with electric vehicle specialist DP Co. to sell two types of Portro ultra-compact electric trucks and three types of Masada electric vehicles. The products on sale include the Portro Top and Portro Pickup, which can be purchased for around 10 million won depending on local government subsidies. With all subsidies applied, including benefits for individual business owners, they can be purchased for under 9 million won. Masada electric vehicles include 2-seater and 4-seater electric vans and electric pickup trucks, priced between 37 million and 38 million won. Depending on local government subsidies, they can be purchased for 14 million to 17 million won. Electric bikes, electric bicycles, and electric kickboards are also being introduced.


A convenience store industry official said, “This Chuseok, we prepared unique products in addition to traditional gift sets such as agricultural, livestock, and marine products,” adding, “We plan to continue offering differentiated and diverse gift sets that appeal to customers.”
