Children are experiencing a fruit tart baking class at the Gijang-gun Jeonggwan-eup Administrative Welfare Center.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Jeonggwan-eup Administrative Welfare Center in Gijang-gun operated the ‘Yorijori Food Therapy Cooking Class’ twice on the 4th and 11th for children in the district.
The event was organized by the Jeonggwan-eup Administrative Welfare Center and the Jeonggwan-eup Community Security Council. Twenty children who use local community child centers and need emotional support were recommended, and the program was made possible with venue cooperation from Korea Polytechnic University Dongbusan Campus.
The program, held during the summer vacation period, focused on allowing children to experience making fruit tarts and rice cake macarons themselves, helping them feel a sense of self-achievement and develop social skills.
A child who participated in the cooking class said, “It was so much fun to put fresh cream inside the tart and decorate it with fruit and cookies,” and added, “I want to quickly take the finished tart home to show off to my family and share it with them.”
Jeonggwan-eup Mayor Kim Jong-cheon said, “I am grateful to the staff of the local community child centers who play a role in protecting and nurturing children so they can spend their vacation safely and healthily,” and added, “Jeonggwan-eup will continue to carry out public-private-academic cooperative projects to support children’s emotional well-being.”
