The Baekdusan Tourism Zone authorities explained, "Recently, heavy rain weakened the ground, causing a small-scale landslide, but there were no casualties or facility damages," and added, "The tourism zone remains open as usual."

The most recent landslides at Baekdusan occurred in 2017 and 2019. At that time, Baekdusan was closed due to the landslides. This landslide occurred on the Bukpa Course, one of the four routes to the summit of Baekdusan?east, west, south, and north?and it is the most popular course among tourists.
