Detective Story Theme ... Development of Cyber Dokdo School Webtoon
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] The Gyeongbuk Office of Education is developing and serializing a Dokdo webtoon titled "Mungchi Detective Mystery File" to help students learn about Dokdo more easily and enjoyably.
Operating the nation's first Cyber Dokdo School and managing an online platform centered on Dokdo education, the Gyeongbuk Office of Education formed a development team composed of local teachers to create Dokdo webtoon content tailored to students' perspectives. The project was planned to naturally lead to fun and learning in a friendly and 부담없이 (unburdened) manner.
"Mungchi Detective Mystery File" features a fifth-grade elementary school girl protagonist who hides her detective abilities and, together with her companion dog, investigates mysterious incidents occurring on Dokdo. Through this process, the story naturally teaches about Dokdo's beautiful natural environment, cultural environment, the people protecting Dokdo, as well as Dokdo's resources and importance.
Episode 1, "Meeting," depicts Somi and Mungchi traveling to Dokdo to solve a case involving the appearance of goblin fire every night on Dokdo.
Episodes 2 and 3, "Secret," involve meeting witnesses who saw the goblin fire (Dokdo Coast Guard members, Dokdo Management Office staff, navigational aid managers, fishermen) to find clues about the case.
Episode 4, "Truth," gathers the clues and discovers that the goblin fire was related to methane hydrate research.
The Dokdo webtoon is uploaded on the Dokdo Playground section of the Cyber Dokdo School website and is promoted through the Education Office's official Cyber Dokdo School Instagram to provide both interest and educational effects to the entire nation.
Superintendent Lim Jong-sik said, "The Gyeongbuk Office of Education is the first in the nation to open the Cyber Dokdo School, striving to make Dokdo education easily accessible to all citizens." He added, "I hope the Dokdo webtoon being serialized this time will serve as an opportunity for people to learn about Dokdo more easily and enjoyably, and we will continue to support Dokdo education in the future."
