Automatic Payment When Passing Without Tapping Transportation Card... Pilot Introduction in Sejong City

A 'Tagless' fare payment service, where the fare is automatically charged simply by passing without tapping a transportation card on the terminal, will be piloted in Sejong City.

On the 11th, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Metropolitan Area Wide-area Transportation Committee announced that it will recruit citizen experience groups to pilot the 'contactless fare payment system (S-BRT Tagless)' on the urban internal circulation B0 route of Sejong Special Self-Governing City BRT.

S-BRT (Super-BRT) is a high-quality BRT that provides subway-level public transportation services by improving punctuality, speed, comfort, and safety compared to existing BRT.

The S-BRT Tagless system allows passengers to simply install a separate app and automatically pay the fare by walking past without tagging a transportation card when boarding and alighting the bus, offering the advantage of convenient boarding and alighting and reduced boarding and alighting times.

The citizen experience group will be formed by accepting applications from citizens who use the B0 route at least three times a week, considering usage frequency, travel purpose, and travel time.

Selected participants will install the 'S-BRT Tagless app' and receive a certain amount of credit (prepaid stored fare) usable on the electric articulated buses of the B0 route, experiencing the S-BRT Tagless system during the pilot operation period with credits automatically deducted upon boarding and alighting.

Since bus fares are replaced with credits, participants can use the bus without separate payment, and the satisfaction and improvement feedback submitted through the app will be used to stabilize the S-BRT Tagless system.

Citizens wishing to participate can apply online from August 15 to August 26, and related information is also available at B0 route bus stops. The selection results will be announced on August 31 via mobile text message and the website.
