Choi Hojung Floor Leader and Others to Hold Emergency Party-Government Council at Seoul City Hall at 10:30 AM and Emergency Meeting at Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education at 1 PM on the 11th to Review Flood Damage Measures
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The People Power Party of the Seoul Metropolitan Council (Floor Leader Choi Ho-jung) will hold an emergency party-government council meeting with Seoul City Hall at 10:30 a.m. and an emergency meeting with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education at 1 p.m. on the 11th to review flood damage countermeasures.

This party-government council meeting with Seoul City Hall is the first to be held since the People Power Party became the ruling party in the Seoul Metropolitan Council for the first time in 12 years. The party and government plan to discuss and revise flood recovery and prevention measures in Seoul caused by this week's record heavy rain.
At the subsequent emergency meeting with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, support measures for educational facilities damaged by the heavy rain will be reviewed to ensure that there are no academic disruptions after schools reopen.
As of the 9th, the People Power Party has identified damage at 28 educational institutions, including 1 kindergarten, 11 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, 8 high schools, 1 special school, 1 student education center, and 1 education support office.
Attending from the People Power Party will be Floor Leader Choi Ho-jung, the floor leadership team, Vice Chairman Nam Chang-jin, and standing committee chairpersons. From Seoul City, the Deputy Mayor for Political Affairs, Director of Planning and Coordination, Political Affairs Advisor, Director of Water Circulation Safety Bureau, Director of Citizen Health Bureau, and Safety General Manager will attend. From the Office of Education, the Deputy Superintendent, Director of Educational Administration, Budget Officer, Director of Educational Finance, and Director of Educational Facility Safety will participate.
Floor Leader Choi Ho-jung stated, “The heavy rain, the worst in 80 years, has brought a national disaster situation. In Seoul alone, five people have died and four are missing. The number of evacuees and displaced persons reaches 3,177. The People Power Party Seoul Metropolitan Council will do its best to ensure that the damage to citizens is quickly restored and that no additional damage occurs.” He added, “We will review the flood recovery and prevention measures of Seoul City and the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education to ensure that available budgets and administrative resources are appropriately used for damage recovery, and we will prepare alternatives for any shortcomings.”
