[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Pohang City, Gyeongbuk, has partially created a 'sunflower field' around Haemaji Square and within the Homigot Landscape Agricultural Complex.

The 'Homigot Landscape Agricultural Complex' has been developed since 2018 as a 100,000-pyeong (33 hectares) scale landscape agricultural complex with rapeseed and buckwheat flowers to address structural rice oversupply, inventory increase issues, and geographical problems caused by sea breeze. This year, the development area has been expanded to about 140,000-pyeong (45 hectares).

Tourists and citizens visiting the Homigot Landscape Agricultural Complex can enjoy diverse seasonal landscapes: yellow waves of rapeseed flowers and colorful barley from April to May, and white buckwheat flowers and sunflowers from June to October.

A Pohang city official said, "To continuously develop the landscape complex from spring to autumn, we conducted two sowings this year by dividing the sowing periods for sunflowers and buckwheat as a pilot project," adding, "We will continue to cultivate various seasonal landscape crops to provide new attractions."
