[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education is conducting on-site education from the 10th of this month to the 31st for 239 students scheduled for field training at 11 vocational high schools to help improve their 'problem-solving skills during field training.'
The education was prepared to enhance students' self-expression and problem-solving abilities in various issues arising at the field training sites, aiming to reduce mid-term dropout rates and increase employment rates.
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education Employment Support Center established an 'employment competency enhancement education plan' based on a 'career aspiration survey' of vocational high school students. Following this plan, on-site education is being conducted in three phases.
According to the 'career aspirations of 3rd-year vocational high school students' survey conducted in March, among 1,779 3rd-year students from 11 vocational high schools, 900 wished to seek employment, 604 wished to pursue further studies, and 295 were undecided about their career paths.
In the first phase, in April, the Office of Education provided 'career decision and employment mindset education' to 265 undecided students who wished to receive education.
After the education, a follow-up survey on career aspirations showed 102 students aiming for employment, 52 for further studies, and 94 still undecided.
The second phase of education, conducted in June, targeted 560 'specialized high school students aspiring for employment' to boost their employment motivation and strengthen employment competencies through the 'Ability Up, Pass Up Education.' The satisfaction survey showed a 94% satisfaction rate.
The third phase of education currently being conducted targets 239 students scheduled for recruitment-type field training to improve their 'problem-solving skills during field training.'
The participants are students who were finally accepted at a recruitment briefing session hosted by five semiconductor companies held by the Employment Support Center in May and are scheduled to begin field training sequentially from September.
The final acceptance numbers are 60 for LG Innotek, 17 for DB HiTek, 53 for STATS ChipPAC Korea, 71 for Amkor Technology Korea, and 38 for ON Semiconductor Korea, totaling 239 students.
The education consists of ▲ presenting problems students worry about before field training ▲ classifying problems according to NCS basic vocational competency standards and discussing solutions ▲ expressing various problems through role-playing and experiencing situations ▲ sharing feedback and impressions.
Third-year student Lee said, “I was very worried about making mistakes before the field training, but through role-playing with friends, I learned how to reduce mistakes and cope with them, which gave me confidence.”
Employment teachers at schools requested additional education for students scheduled for field training discovered by the schools, in addition to those who passed the recruitment briefing at the Employment Support Center.
An official from the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education said, “Reflecting the demands of students and schools, we plan to conduct a fourth phase of education in October so that all students can receive education before the field training begins.”
