"First Large-Scale Wine Event in Second Half... Up to 85% Discount" Shinsegae Department Store Hosts 'Bain de Shinsegae' Shinsegae Department Store Main Branch, 'Band Shinsegae' Event.

[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Shinsegae Department Store is hosting its first large-scale wine event of the second half of the year.

On the 11th, Shinsegae Department Store announced that it will hold the '2022 Vin de Shinsegae' event, featuring a total of 600,000 bottles and participation from 9 importers, from the 12th to the 18th. Targeting people seeking wine for various reasons such as home parties, home drinking, vacation season, and Malbok (the last of the three hottest periods in summer), they have prepared the largest-scale event ever. The discount rate is up to 85%.

From January to July this year, Shinsegae Department Store's wine category sales increased by 31.4% compared to the same period last year. Especially, as more customers enjoy a glass of wine in a sophisticated atmosphere, demand for premium wines has also increased. Sales of high-priced wines over 300,000 KRW rose by 20% during this period.

In this event, Shinsegae Department Store has prepared world-renowned wines at special prices, including first-growth wines from Bordeaux, France’s representative premium region, as well as wines called the "New World gems." Representative products include Ch?teau Margaux 2014, Ch?teau Ang?lus 2017, and Opus One 2018.

They also introduce niche wines that are not well known domestically but boast the highest quality. These include Rocca di Montegrossi Howell Mountain 2018 and Caillou’s Got Only Nose 2017, which have received high praise from wine experts every year.

With Chuseok just over a month away, wine sets available at more reasonable prices will also be offered. Representative sets include the M?doc Cru Bourgeois set, which won a gold medal at the French wine competition 'Gilbert & Gaillard,' the Decoy Limited set from Duckhorn, a representative winery in Napa Valley, and a sweet yet acidic Icewine wine & glass set.

Additionally, wines suitable for health-boosting dishes in line with the upcoming Malbok period will be showcased. Representative products include Trimbach Riesling 2020, which pairs well with Samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup), and A to Z Oregon Bubbles Ros?, which goes well with eel.

On the online shopping mall SSG.com Wine House, over 600 items, the largest quantity ever, will be sold at up to 80% discount until the 21st. Additional discounts of 3-7% are offered when purchasing 3, 4, or 5 bottles or more. For some items, an additional 10% discount is available when paying with SSG Money. Until the 15th, customers who purchase wine worth more than 10,000 KRW using Shinsegae affiliated cards will receive a 3,000 KRW discount coupon that can be used immediately through the Shinsegae Department Store mobile application (app).

Choi Wonjun, head of food at Shinsegae Department Store, said, "At this year’s first Vin de Shinsegae event of the second half, we will present premium wines and Chuseok wine gift sets that guarantee reasonable prices and quality," adding, "We will continue to proactively introduce products that align with customer consumption trends."
