Gwangju Nambu Fire Department Strengthens Fire Safety Management in Traditional Markets Before Chuseok Holiday

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangju Nambu Fire Station announced on the 10th that it will implement fire safety measures to ensure a safe and happy Chuseok holiday free from fire hazards.

According to statistics from the Fire Safety Headquarters, there were 33 fire incidents during the Chuseok holiday period in Gwangju over the past five years (2017?2020), with 41% occurring in residential facilities and negligence accounting for 20 cases (45.5%) as the cause.

The fire safety measures to be implemented include joint inspections of vulnerable facilities such as multi-use facilities, removal of surrounding fire risk factors and securing evacuation safety, guidance on the installation of residential fire safety equipment, and special alert duty enforcement.

The Nambu Fire Station plans to request voluntary safety inspections for traditional markets (Mudeung and Bongseon Markets) until the 26th to ensure safety management and will conduct preventive patrols during fire-prone hours. It will also carry out safety consulting focused on checking emergency exit closures, obstacle storage, and power and valve shutdowns of fire facilities at multi-use facilities such as nursing homes.

Additionally, letters advising caution in handling fire will be sent to industrial facilities such as apartment complexes and factories to urge fire prevention.
