[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Ahn Deok-geun, Head of Trade Negotiations at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, stated on the 10th during an on-site meeting with export companies held at the Namdong National Industrial Complex in Incheon, "We will support exports through a comprehensive export plan to be announced at the end of August."

This visit is part of a relay series of on-site visits to export and import sites that began last month. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plans to listen to the export and import difficulties of companies until the export plan announcement at the end of August.

At the meeting, Head Ahn said, "I consider it meaningful to visit the Incheon Namdong Industrial Complex, which has served as a forward base for manufacturing exports in the metropolitan area since the 1980s. I would like to express my gratitude to the businesspeople who have been the backbone of exports on the front lines despite difficult circumstances." He added, "In a situation where concerns about a global economic downturn are increasing due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict and China's lockdown measures, this meeting was arranged to listen to the difficulties of small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized companies, remove obstacles to exports, and seek ways to improve the trade balance."

He continued, "Our exports achieved a milestone of $400 billion for the first time on a cumulative basis from January to July, but there are limiting factors to export growth such as the global economic slowdown and rising prices of raw and subsidiary materials." He added, "The government will support exports through a comprehensive export plan to be announced at the end of August."

Prior to this, Head Ahn visited Seoul Cosmetics Co., Ltd., a company producing functional cosmetics such as hair dye shampoo, toured the site, and encouraged the employees.
