Use Your Favorite Emoticons Freely... Kakao Hosts 'Emoticon Flex Event'

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Kakao announced on the 9th that it will hold a free trial event for users who have not tried 'Emoticon Plus' until the 28th.

'Emoticon Plus' is a subscription service for emoticons launched in January last year. It allows unlimited use of Kakao emoticons and features automatic recommendations of appropriate emoticons by simply typing words in the chat window.

Users who have not used Emoticon Plus can visit the Emoticon Store in the KakaoTalk More tab and download one or more desired emoticons from the event page to automatically start the Emoticon Plus trial. Once the trial begins, users can freely download and use all emoticons unlimitedly for 7 days.

Before the 7-day trial ends, all event participants will receive a '1-month Emoticon Plus subscription voucher.' Since customers who have never subscribed to Emoticon Plus originally receive the first month free, they can use Emoticon Plus free of charge for a total of 2 months with the 1-month voucher.

Meanwhile, Emoticon Plus has been very popular, with about 10 million users experiencing it as of December 2021, just one year after its launch.

A Kakao official said, “Emoticons that express emotions or situations play an important role in making conversations richer and more enjoyable,” and added, “We will continue to prepare events that bring joy to users, such as this Emoticon Plus event, so that more users can meet and experience various emoticons within KakaoTalk.”
