[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) Sinsa-dong Community Service Center has transformed from a space solely for administrative tasks into a resident space encompassing culture and began operations on the 8th.
The existing Sinsa-dong Community Service Center was built in 1987, and due to aging facilities and limited space, it was insufficient to meet the increasing administrative, welfare, and cultural demands of residents.
To address this, the district established a new construction basic plan in 2018 and went through various procedures, starting construction in February last year. The new building, with a total floor area of 1,940㎡ and consisting of one basement and four above-ground floors, was completed in July after about 1 year and 5 months. The complex building installed a renewable energy generation facility using geothermal energy, enabling significant energy savings.
The main facilities on each floor are as follows: ▲ Basement 1 parking lot ▲ 1st floor civil service office (integrated civil affairs, welfare consultation) ▲ 2nd floor small library, small meeting room ▲ 3rd floor autonomous community center program lecture room, small auditorium ▲ 4th floor multipurpose auditorium, providing not only civil service offices but also resident convenience facilities all in one building.
The parking lot, which was previously outdoors, has been relocated underground in the complex building to minimize resident inconvenience. The small library and autonomous community center have been integrated into the complex building, allowing residents to enjoy various cultural programs alongside administrative services in one space.
Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, said, “I sincerely thank everyone who worked together for the new building construction,” and added, “We will continue to manage thoroughly so that residents can use the community service center more comfortably and conveniently.”
Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) signed a business agreement with SK Networks Walkerhill on the 9th in the mayor’s office to contribute to the local community.
This agreement ceremony was held to revitalize the stagnant tourism industry through networking between the district and local tourist hotels, promote mutual cooperation, and realize a sustainable environmental city.
At the ceremony, they promised ▲ development of various contents and programs to activate culture and tourism ▲ operation of hotel accommodation and meal support programs for socially vulnerable groups ▲ implementation of plogging programs to realize a sustainable environmental city.
According to this agreement, the two organizations will hold a healing concert to welcome the spring and autumn bloom of Achasan Mountain, and when Gwangjin-gu holds festivals, they will invite domestic and international influencers to promote fam tours.
A fam tour refers to a trip organized to promote tourism products or specific tourist destinations by inviting power bloggers, travel agents, and media personnel.
Additionally, residents and students interested in environmental activities will be recruited through the district website and volunteer center to participate in plogging programs for environmental maintenance around Achasan Mountain.
Furthermore, SK Networks Walkerhill will also carry out its representative social contribution program, ‘Happy Family (家).’
‘Happy Family (家)’ is a project that sponsors healing programs consisting of meals and accommodation for basic livelihood security recipients and low-income groups through tourism activities. Participants are recruited through community service centers and selected by lottery.
Moreover, the district plans to promote Walkerhill Hotel in booklets and promotional materials and provide organic cooperation and support when hosting various events and activities.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “This agreement is expected to be an opportunity to widely promote the charm of Gwangjin-gu domestically and internationally based on the capabilities and know-how of both organizations and to help it emerge as a representative tourism city of Seoul,” adding, “We will continue to develop various social contribution programs and fulfill our proper responsibilities as a corporation and local government.”
Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that it will hold the ‘3rd Yeonsinnae Summer Street Party’ on the 13th from 2 PM to 10 PM at Yeonbit Street and the car-free street in Yeonsinnae shopping district.
This event, aimed at revitalizing the Yeonsinnae commercial area, is a summer cultural festival in the city where visitors can enjoy a variety of sights and food. It is being held again after three years since 2019.
The festival features ▲ beer booths ▲ DJing and busking performance stages ▲ food booths ▲ flea market booths ▲ fishing experience and water balloon game booths ▲ prize events ▲ photo zones, offering diverse cultural content.
Visitors to the event can enjoy delicious craft beer and food at the beer and food booths and receive free coupons through event activities. A photo zone is also set up to capture memories.
For entertainment, there will be performances such as DJing and busking to enjoy youthfulness, along with a silver model contest that the elderly can also enjoy.
As a prize event, an eco-friendly MoaMoa recycling event encouraging resident-led recycling will be held, providing booth usage coupons and prizes to participants.
Event operations will strictly adhere to quarantine measures in preparation for a resurgence of COVID-19, including frequent disinfection of booths, provision of hand sanitizers, and promotion of quarantine guidelines.
This event is sponsored by Eunpyeong-gu and organized and hosted by the Yeonsinnae Shopping District Merchants Association. For inquiries about the event, contact the Yeonsinnae Shopping District Merchants Association.
Kim Doo-hwan, president of the Yeonsinnae Shopping District Merchants Association, said, “We hope this cultural event specialized for Yeonsinnae Shopping District will become an urban resort festival that revitalizes the body and mind tired from the heat and COVID-19.”
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, “We hope this lively event will serve as an opportunity to revitalize the local commercial area and bring vitality to residents and merchants,” adding, “Since it is held after three years, we hope it will be a hopeful and safe event that everyone can enjoy.”
