Annual Power Generation of 72,270 kW and Securing 33 Tons of Carbon Emission Permits
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] POSCO Steelion completed the installation of a solar power generation facility at its Pohang headquarters building on the 8th.
POSCO Steelion collaborated with its client, Isola Energy, to build a 49.5kW rooftop solar power facility for self-consumption on the roof of its headquarters building.
The solar power facility installation applied Isola Energy’s solar panel supports and roofing material, Solar Roof panels, using POSMAC Color products, a highly corrosion-resistant steel from the POSCO Group.
With this solar power generation facility, POSCO Steelion expects to generate 72,270 kW annually and secure 33 tons of carbon emission credits.
In particular, to advance ESG management, POSCO Steelion plans to use this solar power facility, built in collaboration with its client using its own materials, as a demonstration model for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and 100% renewable energy use (RE100), and gradually apply it to other buildings such as factories in the future.
POSMAC Color steel sheets, zinc-aluminum-magnesium alloy coated steel sheets produced by POSCO combined with POSCO Steelion’s painting technology, offer excellent corrosion resistance, chemical resistance, and weather resistance, making them construction materials with a 20-year quality guarantee.
Isola Energy manufactures panels specialized for power generation efficiency using POSMAC Color steel sheets as the material and completed POSCO Steelion’s rooftop solar system through a bolt-hidden method that perfectly prevents water leakage.
A POSCO Steelion official stated, “We will install a solar power generation facility using POSMAC Color products on the roof of Seungil Industrial’s factory, a client company, within this year and continuously expand the supply of eco-friendly energy to customers and local communities.”
