[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Due to the influence of a stationary front, heavy rain of up to 300mm or more is expected in the Seoul metropolitan area and the inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province until Tuesday, the 9th.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 8th, a stationary front that is narrow from north to south and long from east to west will move up and down north to south, bringing very heavy rain of about 50 to 80mm per hour. The KMA issued a heavy rain advisory at 6 a.m. for Seoul, Incheon, parts of Gangwon Province, and some areas of Gyeonggi Province.

Until the 9th, 100 to 200mm of rain is expected in the Seoul metropolitan area, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, and the five western islands, with some places receiving over 300mm. The eastern coast of Gangwon, the Chungcheong region, and northern Gyeongsangbuk-do will see 30 to 80mm of rain, with some areas receiving over 150mm. Northern Jeollabuk-do will receive about 5 to 30mm of rain.

The KMA stated, "Since the stationary front is narrow from north to south, there will be significant differences in rainfall amounts by region during the rain. Very heavy rain is also expected in Hwanghae Province in North Korea and Gangwon Province. Water levels in the Imjin River, Hantan River, and Bukhan River near northern Gyeonggi and northwestern Gangwon Yeongseo may rise rapidly, so thorough precautions should be taken to prevent damage."

In southern Jeollabuk-do, eastern inland Jeollanam-do, southern inland Gyeongsangbuk-do, and western inland Gyeongsangnam-do, showers accompanied by thunder and lightning of 5 to 20mm are expected in the afternoon.

While a heatwave advisory is in effect for the Chungcheong region, southern areas, and Jeju Island where no rain is expected, the highest apparent temperature will rise to 32 to 36 degrees Celsius, making it very hot. The daytime high temperatures will reach 28°C in Seoul and Incheon, 29°C in Suwon, 31°C in Daejeon and Cheongju, 32°C in Busan, Gwangju, and Jeonju, and 35°C in Daegu and Jeju. Fine dust levels are expected to be 'Good' across all regions due to favorable atmospheric dispersion and the influence of precipitation.

In the mountainous areas of Gangwon, winds will be very strong, blowing at 12 to 18 meters per second with gusts exceeding 25 meters per second. From tonight until the afternoon of the 9th, winds in the outer seas of the central East Sea and the northern outer seas of the southern East Sea will be very strong at 9 to 16 meters per second, with waves reaching 1.5 to 3.5 meters high.
