Half of Motorcycle Accident Deaths Are Delivery Workers... 'Joint Punishment Rule' Applied to Business Owners Illegal Delivery Motorcycle Activities Crackdown [Gyeonggi Northern Provincial Police Agency]

[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] The Northern Gyeonggi Police have decided to take strict measures against the rapidly increasing violations of traffic laws by two-wheeled vehicles.

In particular, traffic violations by delivery motorcycles not only threaten the safety of pedestrians and vehicle drivers but also accounted for nearly half (47.6%) of all two-wheeled vehicle fatalities this year.

According to the Northern Gyeonggi Police Agency on the 7th, an analysis of two-wheeled vehicle traffic accident statistics over the past three years revealed that the risk of fatal accidents involving two-wheeled vehicles is highest in September.

Accordingly, from the 8th until the end of October, they plan to intensively crack down on reckless driving, signal violations, crossing the center line, driving on sidewalks, and acts such as not attaching, covering, or damaging license plates to evade enforcement.

Furthermore, the dual punishment regulation will be applied not only to delivery drivers but also to delivery business owners who neglect their duty of care and supervision, and strict measures will be taken.

Acts such as not attaching, covering, or damaging delivery motorcycle license plates, which can be used in various crimes, will be eradicated through on-site enforcement using police sidecars and undercover patrol cars, as well as camcorder video monitoring.

In addition, criminal acts that threaten citizen safety, such as causing loud noise late at night and reckless driving, will be tackled by mobilizing all available means, including planned investigations and joint crackdowns with related agencies.
