[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] KT Chungnam·Chungbuk Regional Headquarters announced on the 7th that it has signed a '28 GHz Industry Convergence Expansion Project Mutual Cooperation Agreement' with Samsung Seoul Hospital.
Earlier, KT and Samsung Seoul Hospital were selected as private sector operators for the '5G Convergence Service Project' hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT in June.
The 5G Convergence Service Project is a demonstration project aimed at helping to create an initial market for the specialized 5G network, Eum5G.
Under the agreement, KT will build Eum5G at Samsung Seoul Hospital and provide 'immersive medical professional education services' to residents.
KT and Samsung Seoul Hospital will first pilot the service for remote surgery training and then expand it to robot rounds, emergency procedures, and ventilator training.
Lee Hyun-seok, Executive Director of KT Chungnam·Chungbuk Regional Headquarters, said, "We will continue to expand the scope of cooperation across various industries to create a 5G convergence service ecosystem."
