[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] Sunday, the 7th, marks 'Ipchu' (立秋), the beginning of autumn, but hot weather will continue nationwide with scattered showers expected in various areas.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 6th, rain is expected from dawn to night in the metropolitan area, Gangwon Province, Chungcheong Province, and North Gyeongsang Province, and from morning to afternoon in Jeolla Province, South Gyeongsang Province, and Jeju Island. Expected precipitation amounts are 5 to 60 mm in the metropolitan area, western Gangwon, and the five islands in the West Sea, and 5 to 40 mm in eastern Gangwon, Chungcheong Province, southern regions, and Jeju Island. Morning low temperatures are forecasted to be between 24 and 28 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs ranging from 30 to 36 degrees Celsius.
Fine dust levels will be between 'Good' and 'Moderate' across all regions. Some inland areas may experience fog with visibility less than 1 km from dawn to morning, so caution is advised for traffic safety. Strong showers accompanied by gusts of wind, thunder, and lightning, with hourly rainfall of 20 to 30 mm, will cause sudden reductions in visibility and slippery roads in some places.
Sea waves will be 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the East Sea and South Sea coastal waters, and 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the West Sea coastal waters. Wave heights in the offshore waters (approximately 200 km from the coastline) of the East Sea, West Sea, and South Sea are expected to be 0.5 to 1.5 meters.
