[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] As of 9 PM on the 5th, over 100,000 new COVID-19 cases were reported nationwide.
According to Seoul City and other local governments, from midnight to 9 PM, a total of 107,807 people across 17 cities and provinces were confirmed positive for COVID-19.
This is 583 fewer than the 108,390 cases recorded during the same time frame the previous day.
This marks the fifth consecutive day that the number of new confirmed cases has exceeded 100,000 in the interim tally.
With time remaining until midnight when the final tally is closed, the number of new cases announced on the 6th is expected to increase to around 110,000.
As of 9 PM on this day, the new confirmed cases by region are: Gyeonggi 29,019, Seoul 20,161, Gyeongnam 6,761, Gyeongbuk 5,721, Incheon 5,542, Chungnam 5,011, Daegu 4,345, Jeonbuk 4,087, Gangwon 3,975, Busan 3,961, Chungbuk 3,912, Jeonnam 3,591, Daejeon 3,462, Ulsan 2,961, Gwangju 2,840, Jeju 1,635, and Sejong 823.
