Gokseong County Dream Play Orchestra to Hold Intensive Summer Camp from August 8 to 12

[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jong-sun] The Gokseong County Future Education Foundation's "Gokseong County Dream Play Orchestra" (County Youth Orchestra) announced on the 5th that it will hold an intensive summer camp.

Gokseong County in Jeollanam-do established the County Youth Orchestra in July 2020.

It operates mainly around Gokseong, Seokgok, and Okgwa Middle Schools, and from this year, it has expanded to include high school students and prospective elementary school members. The orchestra actively conducts weekly regular part rehearsals by school and full ensemble rehearsals at the Gokseong Culture and Sports Center on the last week of each month.

This intensive summer camp will be held from August 8 to August 12 for five days at each middle school and the Gokseong Culture and Sports Center, involving about 150 participants with part rehearsals and full ensemble practice.

In particular, this camp plans to provide time not only for regular concert pieces but also for learning favorite children's songs or performance pieces by instrument, aiming to make the camp enjoyable and engaging by fostering a sense of accomplishment in performance and sensitivity to instruments.

A parent said that their child transferred in March and wanted to learn an instrument, so they applied for membership in the orchestra.

Watching the full ensemble, they were surprised by the large number of participating students, and hearing how the instruments harmonize and the grandeur of the sound firsthand, they were amazed by the performance skills and deeply moved.

They expressed gratitude, hoping that their child would grow further through harmony with peers during the camp period and continue to participate steadily.

The Gokseong County Future Education Foundation supports elementary school students in the region to easily access and learn instruments by linking with local village schools, aiming to help develop rich emotions and emotional growth by allowing children to encounter desired instruments from elementary school, a crucial period for character formation.

A representative of the Gokseong County Future Education Foundation said, "Music education requires mutual breathing and harmony that cannot be achieved by the skill of one person alone. In a competitive society, the significance of music education is very great. We will do our best to provide an educational environment that fosters empathy, consideration, and cooperation to increase happiness."

Meanwhile, the County Youth Orchestra is preparing for its 3rd regular concert in September 2023 by improving individual members' skills and intensively mastering the regular concert pieces.
