[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, held a briefing session with related personnel on the 4th to ensure the safe and smooth progress of the '2022 Gyeonggi-do Sports Festival,' providing an overview of the entire event and requesting cooperation from related organizations.
Yongin City first held a briefing session on the 4th at the City Hall Vision Hall for officials from 38 eup, myeon, and dong districts where the torch relay will take place, as well as the torchbearers. At this session, the city explained the entire route, arrival times at each stop, and the duties of each person in charge.
They also urged the torchbearers to hand over the torch to the next runner without any mistakes and guided participants on how to form the relay formation and other procedural details.
On the same day, the city held a meeting with related organizations including the Yongin City Sports Council, Yongin East and West Police Stations, Yongin Fire Station, Model Drivers Association, Marine Corps Veterans Association, and the Autonomous Crime Prevention Unit.
The city requested support for police escort and traffic control to ensure the safe movement of athletes and citizens during various events held along the torch relay sections, as well as the 10 km shortened marathon race scheduled for the 27th.
They also asked for utmost efforts to maintain order around the main stadium, Yongin Mir Stadium, on the day of the opening ceremony and to prepare for emergency situations.
A city official stated, "We are doing our best to prepare for the 2022 Gyeonggi-do Sports Festival so that it can become a true festival of unity for the residents of the province," adding, "We will concentrate all administrative efforts on holding a safe and orderly event through close cooperation with torch relay personnel and related organizations."
