Recruitment of Resident Companies at Jungnang Startup Support Center... Songpa-gu Sae Hwal-yong Center Most Cost-Effective and Popular

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is recruiting companies to move into the Jungnang Startup Support Center until the 19th.

Opened in January, the Jungnang Startup Support Center is equipped with a professional incubation system for company growth and is actively fostering promising new startups in the 4th industrial revolution fields. Among the first resident companies, those receiving new investments and government support programs are emerging one after another, greatly helping to establish a growth foundation for early-stage startups.

The recruitment space is in the form of a "shared office," where approximately 250㎡ of space is used jointly. The residency period is one year, with the possibility of extension up to five years.

The recruitment targets are new companies within seven years of establishment as of the announcement date and prospective entrepreneurs, with preference given to fields of new technologies in the 4th industrial revolution such as AI, big data, robotics, fintech, blockchain, and biotech. Manufacturing, ICT, content, and technology service sectors are also being recruited.

If selected as a resident company, only a monthly rent of 30,000 KRW plus VAT is required without management fees or rental deposits. Additionally, various support services are available, enabling new companies and prospective entrepreneurs to build a foundation for growth.

Support services include ▲facility support (various equipment, meeting rooms, etc.) ▲business support (consultations with experts in law, accounting, patents, policy fund linkage support, one-stop startup consultation desk) ▲coaching support (coaching on government support project business plans, educational services, industry-academia cooperation networking), among others.

In particular, a dedicated accelerator resides at the center and, in collaboration with Sungkyunkwan University Graduate School of Global Entrepreneurship, provides free startup support programs and consulting, which have received great responses from resident companies.

Companies wishing to move in can apply by submitting an application form and business plan via email or by visiting the center directly. After document and interview screening, the final successful companies will be announced on the 16th of next month. Detailed information can be found in the announcement/notice section on the Jungnang-gu Office website.

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, "We ask for the interest of innovative and creative prospective entrepreneurs and startup companies in the Jungnang Startup Support Center, which is emerging as a new startup growth hub. We will continue to steadily expand the growth foundation to revitalize the local economy."

"I needed a washing machine for my store, so I visited the SaeHwalYong Center. The prices are affordable, and they kindly helped me load the washing machine into my car right after purchase, so I am very satisfied."

Mr. Lee, who runs a store in Geoyeo-dong, Songpa-gu, has already used the SaeHwalYong Center four times to purchase large appliances such as air conditioners and refrigerators.

He says he frequently uses the center because he can buy cost-effective products at low prices.

Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that the cost-effective secondhand goods at the Songpa-gu SaeHwalYong Center are gaining popularity amid ongoing inflation this year.

Opened in December last year, the "Songpa-gu SaeHwalYong Center" is a resource circulation complex space encompassing recycling and upcycling, consisting of ▲recycling and upcycling product exhibition and sales areas ▲promotion and exhibition halls ▲secondhand goods repair and mending rooms ▲book caf? and experience/education facilities (Shinhan Card Areumin Library) ▲tool experience center.

In particular, inspired by warehouse-style discount stores, the district divided the recycling and upcycling product exhibition and sales area into four sections by item type to enhance convenience so residents can easily find products at a glance, and created outdoor rest facilities to strengthen consumer accessibility.

The products for sale consist of donated items and refurbished goods. Furniture includes 21 types ranging from chairs priced in the 10,000 KRW range to wardrobes in the 100,000 KRW range, and there are 17 types of home appliances such as refrigerators and air conditioners, allowing consumers to purchase upcycled products at affordable prices.

When moving or if you have unused appliances or furniture that you hesitate to throw away, you can request the SaeHwalYong Center, which also provides a pickup service anytime. For more details, please contact the Songpa-gu SaeHwalYong Center by phone.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, "I felt sorry seeing many usable secondhand items discarded during moves. I hope the reuse culture among residents will be revitalized through secondhand goods sales at the Songpa-gu SaeHwalYong Center, and we will actively lead efforts to create a sustainable resource circulation society."

Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Sung-heon) is providing what is called a "management vaccine" to small business owners struggling with prolonged COVID-19 impacts.

The term "management vaccine" was coined with the intention of "protecting small business owners and supporting business recovery and competitiveness, just like a vaccine protects us from COVID-19."

The support targets are small business owners registered in Seodaemun-gu who operate consumer-facing stores for more than three months. However, they must have fewer than five regular employees, and franchise and non-store businesses, entertainment bars, and businesses restricted from Seodaemun-gu small business loans are excluded.

Applicants can download the application form from the Seodaemun-gu website notice section, fill it out, and send it by email by the 30th of this month. When applying, one must choose between "store design improvement" and "menu development."

The district will review whether applicants meet the criteria and have clear improvement goals, prioritizing leased stores, and select 90 stores in early next month.

Customized consulting will be provided at least twice per store by the end of this year, and up to 2 million KRW will be supported for design, construction costs, or material expenses.

Through this, small business owners will be able to renovate signs, interiors, menus, awnings, display shelves, or improve existing recipes and ingredients and develop new menus.

Mayor Lee Sung-heon said, "I hope the management vaccine project in Seodaemun-gu will revitalize supported stores and local commercial districts, and we will continue to discover various projects that provide practical help to small business owners."

Guro-gu (Mayor Moon Heon-il) is carrying out various projects for senior citizens' health management.

Guro-gu announced on the 4th that it is conducting activities such as hypertension management and promotion of the 4th COVID-19 vaccination to help seniors maintain healthy daily lives amid heatwaves and the resurgence of COVID-19.

First, until the end of this year, the district will provide health management services to 50 vulnerable elderly individuals taking hypertension medication among the home health care recipients.

Visiting nurses from each neighborhood visit the homes of the service recipients to distribute blood pressure monitors and health notebooks to record measurement results and provide instructions on their use. For seniors who have not received the 4th COVID-19 vaccination and wish to make a reservation, on-site assistance is also provided.

Additionally, integrated health care services such as exercise and nutrition management and psychological counseling are supported via phone or visits.

Recently, reinfection cases have increased due to reduced vaccine effectiveness, decreased natural immunity after infection, and the spread of a new variant (BA.5) with high transmissibility and immune evasion. The existing vaccines' effectiveness in preventing severe illness and death remains long-lasting even against new variants.

Accordingly, the Guro-gu Public Health Center is conducting an "on-site reservation service for seniors" until the end of August for proactive protection of the elderly.

For seniors aged 60 and over who have passed four months since their 3rd vaccination or are unvaccinated, reservation booths are set up at community centers or local event venues to assist elderly people who have difficulty using the internet in making vaccination appointments.

Moreover, at samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) sharing events held in each neighborhood, seniors were educated on the purpose and effectiveness of the 4th vaccination and encouraged to participate.

A Guro-gu official said, "We will continue to prepare various health management projects so that seniors can live healthy lives."
