[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province has been selected as an excellent institution for drone-utilized spatial information projects by the government.
On the 3rd, Seongnam City announced that its project titled "Enhancing Safety and Efficiency of Spatial Information Production System Using Underground Survey Drones" was finally selected in the '2022 Local Government Spatial Information Excellent Project' contest conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport targeting local governments nationwide.
The city is investing a total of 116 million KRW, including 58 million KRW in national subsidies, in this project.
The Spatial Information Excellent Project is an initiative by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to promote the establishment of excellent industrial models in local governments nationwide, as well as to improve the quality of spatial information services and administrative efficiency.
Following its selection in 2021 for the project "Establishment of Urban Heat Temperature Digital Map Using Drones," the city has achieved the distinction of being selected for the Spatial Information Excellent Project for two consecutive years.
The "Underground Facility Survey Using Drones" project involves building high-quality 3D data through drones equipped with LiDAR sensors to conduct surveys and measurements of underground facilities, which have a high risk of accidents such as suffocation.
Through this project, the city expects to prevent safety accidents and create new industry jobs. In particular, by linking underground facility data with the "Seongnam City Mobile Map Production System" and the "Seongnam City Digital Twin Construction Project," the city plans to advance as a leading local government in spatial information through 3D data construction.
A city official emphasized, "With this year's selection in the local government spatial information excellent project contest, we will further develop spatial information new industry technologies for more efficient administrative work."
