The on-site evaluation team from the Korea Architectural Education Accreditation Board is meeting with the faculty of the Department of Architecture at Changwon National University to conduct the accreditation review of the architectural education program.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Department of Architecture, College of Engineering at Changwon National University received the highest grade of "6-year accreditation" in the architectural education program accreditation review conducted by the Korean Architectural Accrediting Board (KAAB).
According to Changwon National University, architectural education accreditation is a system introduced for the international mutual recognition of architectural education, and graduates majoring in architecture must obtain it to qualify as licensed architects.
A university official explained that Changwon National University's Department of Architecture received the highest grade in its first accreditation in 2017 and achieved consecutive accreditation in this second round this year.
The Department of Architecture at Changwon National University aims to educate students to become creative architects who lead the development of architectural culture in future society.
The official stated that in this evaluation, the program received high scores for ▲establishing a professional educational system centered on excellent faculty achieving clear educational outcomes ▲flexibly and promptly responding to recent changes and demands in the educational environment ▲and having a very systematic interconnection between architectural theory courses and design studio courses.
Professor Jeong Seongmun, who oversaw the accreditation process, said, "Despite difficult educational conditions such as the impact of COVID-19, faculty and students worked hard for the program's development, and the university administration provided active support." He added, "As international travel conditions improve, we will do our best to actively hold international exchange programs to continuously nurture world-class architectural talents."
