SSG.com Launches 'Metaverse Open Run' Service... "Special Discounts on Popular Products for Mission Completion" SSG.com's new service, Metaverse Open Run.

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] SSG.com announced on the 1st that it will launch a new service called ‘Metaverseuk Open Run,’ utilizing ideas from MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z) employees.


Metaverseuk Open Run is a service that combines gaming and shopping elements on the metaverse platform ZEP, offering popular products at special prices to customers who complete given missions. It features the concept of moving the offline ‘open run,’ where customers rush to purchase limited-edition products as soon as the store opens, to an online environment.


SSG.com will operate a pre-opening period until the 7th to allow customers to experience the metaverse shopping environment in advance. Anyone can access it, and practice runs for the open run are also possible. From the 8th to the 10th, limited quantities of special-priced products such as Samsung Electronics Galaxy Tab S8, Gentle Monster sunglasses, and SSG Food Market Korean beef will be offered.


The plan for this new service originated from the SSG Ideathon, an internal idea competition held in the first half of this year. A total of 36 teams with over 150 participants applied, with more than 90% being employees in their 20s and 30s. The grand prize-winning team was also composed of employees in their 20s. The Ideathon, a portmanteau of ‘idea’ and ‘marathon,’ was held for the first time this year to foster a voluntary and flexible corporate culture by encouraging employees to generate and propose creative ideas.


An SSG.com official said, “Metaverseuk Open Run is an example of applying ‘bold challenges,’ one of the ‘SSG DNA’ principles that define how SSG.com works, to our tasks. We developed vibrant employee ideas to provide new customer experiences.” He added, “We will continue to actively utilize ideas from employees to offer fresh shopping experiences and trendy services to customers.”
