[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Hyun-ji] On the 31st, Rep. Jo Su-jin of the People Power Party resigned from her position as Supreme Council member.

Rep. Jo held a press conference at the National Assembly on the same day and stated, "I am stepping down from the Supreme Council position to take responsibility for the serious warning from public sentiment demanding awakening and change."

She added, "A comprehensive reform is needed not only within the party but also in the Presidential Office and the government," and said, "For a recovery from the bottom, a joint reform of the three pillars of the ruling party must be achieved."

She continued, "I ask the seniors, so-called Yoonhaekgwan (key associates of President Yoon Seok-yeol), to deeply reflect on the fundamental causes of the overall complex crisis. While keeping the pride and confidence of having achieved a regime change, I urge all to step back to a practical secondary role."

Later, Rep. Jo explained to reporters, "Last Friday, I made various attempts to persuade, but yesterday one person clearly stated their position," adding, "So I decided that I could no longer delay."

On the 29th, Rep. Bae Hyun-jin of the People Power Party also resigned from her Supreme Council position, saying, "It is time to show responsibility as a member of the leadership." However, Rep. Jo refrained from further comment, saying, "According to party rules, all members must resign for the party to move to a provisional leadership. Please direct questions unifiedly to Kwon Seong-dong, the acting party leader and floor leader."
