[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] On the 29th, President Yoon Seok-yeol appointed Ko Jin, chairman of the Korea Metaverse Industry Association, as the chairman of the Presidential Commission on the Digital Platform Government.
Chairman Ko, the son of former Prime Minister Ko Gun, graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Electronic Engineering and earned a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Syracuse University in the United States. He is an IT entrepreneur.
Chairman Ko graduated from Seoul National University’s Department of Electronic Engineering and obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Syracuse University. He is one year junior to President Yoon at Daekwang Elementary School. In 1994, he founded Barovision, a wireless internet solutions company, and served as its CEO in 2008.
From 2014 to 2018, he served as a member of the Convergence Research Committee of the National Research Council of Science & Technology, and from 2017 to 2019, he was a member of the 4th Industrial Revolution Committee under the President. This year, he led the Digital Platform Government Task Force (TF) at the 20th Presidential Transition Committee.
Meanwhile, the Digital Platform Government refers to a government that provides customized services to citizens based on a digital platform where all data is connected and big data is utilized.
While the existing government provided services unilaterally, President Yoon expects the digital platform government model to be one where the private sector and government collaborate, and companies become partners in innovation.
