Changwon Special City "Visit the Paengnamu Tree from Woo Young-woo and Enjoy Changwon Tourism" Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, has set up a tourism promotion booth in Dongbu Village, Bukbu-ri, Daesan-myeon, Uichang-gu, where crowds gather to see the Wooyoungwoo Zelkova tree.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Recently, the ‘Deokdong Zelkova Tree’ featured in the drama has become a hot topic, and tourists have been continuously visiting the actual filming location where this tree stands.

Changwon City in Gyeongnam Province has set up a tourism promotion booth in Dongbu Village, Bukbu-ri, Daesan-myeon, Uichang-gu, where crowds flock daily to see the so-called ‘Woo Young-woo Zelkova Tree,’ to promote Changwon’s tourist attractions.

At the entrance of Dongbu Village, visitors can see a hand-painted sign made by villagers that reads ‘Way to the Extraordinary Attorney Woo Zelkova Tree.’ Following the wall painted with dolphins, which the main character Woo Young-woo (played by Park Eun-bin) likes, up the hill, the Zelkova tree from the drama proudly stands.

As the drama gained huge popularity and tourists from all over the country flock to see this Zelkova tree, the city installed a promotion booth on the hill path leading to the tree to introduce other tourist attractions in Changwon worth visiting after seeing the tree.

Visitors who stop by the booth on their way down after admiring the Zelkova tree can obtain information about Changwon’s representative tourist sites, as well as the history, culture, and tourism information of Daesan-myeon, Buk-myeon, and Dong-eup areas. They can also receive introductions to local specialties and nearby popular restaurants.

Jung Jin-seong, head of the Tourism Division, said, “Despite the hot weather, we understand that many people come from all over the country, including Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongbuk, to see the ‘Woo Young-woo Zelkova Tree.’ We will strive to discover and promote tourism content linked to the drama filming locations so that visitors coming from afar can also enjoy nearby tourist spots and create joyful memories.”

Meanwhile, due to the sudden fame of the Zelkova tree, the city plans to provide convenience by installing filming location guide signs and photo zones in Dongbu Village, where residents welcome tourists with murals and hand-painted signs, and by deploying volunteers to guide vehicle traffic.
