Samsung Galaxy to Feature Snapdragon Chips Until 2030... Collaboration on 6G Technology Also Planned

[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] Qualcomm announced on the 28th that it will continue its strategic partnership with Samsung Electronics until 2030 to provide the best premium consumer experience through Samsung Galaxy devices.


The two companies have signed a 7-year extension contract for patent licenses related to 3G·4G··5G·6G mobile technologies. Furthermore, Qualcomm’s subsidiary Qualcomm Technologies and Samsung Electronics have agreed to expand collaboration on the Snapdragon platform for the development of next-generation Samsung Galaxy products across smartphones, PCs·tablets·and extended reality (XR) devices.


Building on this collaboration, the two companies plan to expand technological leadership and provide the world’s best device experience.


Christiano Amon, President and CEO of Qualcomm, stated, “The signing of this license extension agreement demonstrates the long-term mutual cooperation between Qualcomm and Samsung. Based on a strong partnership that has lasted over 20 years, the two companies have led the industry,” and added, “We are pleased to expand our strategic partnership for innovative technologies and product development based on the Snapdragon platform, aiming to support more Samsung premium devices worldwide.”


Taemoon Noh, President of Samsung Electronics MX Division, said, “Qualcomm’s innovative technologies have played a key role in the growth of the mobile industry,” and added, “This collaboration is based on the strategic partnership between Samsung and Qualcomm that has been closely maintained for years. Together with Qualcomm, we will focus on strengthening the mobile industry and user experience for the development of next-generation Samsung Galaxy devices.”
