CJ OliveNetworks Applies for Ministry of Science and ICT 'Ieum 5G' Frequency Allocation

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] CJ OliveNetworks announced on the 27th that it has submitted an application to the Ministry of Science and ICT for the allocation of frequencies for 5G mobile communication specialized networks and for registration as a period telecommunications business operator holding circuit facilities.

The application is known to include the intention to use the frequencies in the cloud center area of Songdo, Incheon.

CJ OliveNetworks is the fifth company to apply for the 5G specialized network 'Eum 5G'. Eum 5G is a customized network that can implement a 5G communication network only within a specific range such as factories or buildings, and a 5G specialized network operator can directly build the 5G communication network.

Also, becoming a period telecommunications business operator allows providing 5G specialized network services to third-party demand companies. CJ OliveNetworks signed a business agreement with LG Uplus on the 1st of last month to cooperate on the Eum 5G business.
