Sunchon National University Successfully Holds Korean Language Achievement Presentation for International Students

[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon National University announced on the 27th that it holds an international student festival event every year for foreign students in the Korean language training course and degree programs, showcasing Korean songs, dances, plays, and comedy.

A total of about 120 graduates and current students of the Korean Language Institute participated in the presentation, displaying various talents including K-pop dance, K-drama parodies, and diverse traditional cultures from the students' home countries.

At the performance presentation, the Korean Language Training Course 5B class won the grand prize by weaving debate, skits, songs, and dance into one story, while teams that showed a parody of the K-drama "Business Proposal" and traditional dances from Indonesia and Malaysia received excellence and special awards.

In addition, at the study abroad experience presentation contest, Nandawithaung (Myanmar) student, who demonstrated remarkable writing and speaking skills, won the excellence award.

In his congratulatory remarks, President Ko Young-jin said, "I hope the precious connections made at Suncheon National University will continue, and I wish you to become wonderful members representing Suncheon National University in the world by using your experiences here as a stepping stone."

Also, Cheon Ji-yeon, Director of the International Exchange Education Headquarters, said, "I was impressed by the students who showed remarkably improved skills through today's performance presentation, and we will continue to do our best to support foreign freshmen in developing their abilities and achieving their dreams as Suncheon National University, certified for educational internationalization capabilities."

Thanks to these efforts, Suncheon National University was recently selected as a ‘2023~2025 Government Scholarship Program for Foreign Students (GKS) host university,’ and it also operates various international education and exchange programs for local residents, expected to establish itself as a glocal campus contributing to the development of regional internationalization in the future.
