Operation Targeting Rain Wheelchair Users, Pregnant Women, and Infants
[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cha Jong-sun] Jeollanam-do Gokseong-gun (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced that starting August 1, it will operate 6 voucher taxis to improve transportation means and welfare for transportation-disadvantaged individuals.
Currently, Gokseong-gun operates 4 call taxis for the disabled as transportation means for the transportation-disadvantaged.
However, as the number of transportation-disadvantaged individuals increases every year, waiting times have lengthened, causing growing inconvenience for users.
To address this, the voucher taxi system has been introduced.
Voucher taxis operate only within Gokseong-gun and provide priority transportation services to non-wheelchair transportation-disadvantaged individuals upon request from the Jeonnam Regional Mobility Support Center.
Under normal circumstances, they operate as regular taxis serving general passengers.
Voucher taxis are operated for transportation-disadvantaged individuals registered at the Jeonnam Regional Mobility Support Center (non-wheelchair disabled, pregnant women, infants, etc.).
Users request dispatch through the call center or the mobile app ‘Jeonnam Regional Mobility Support Center’ and then use the service. Available hours are from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The fare is 500 KRW for the first 2 km, with an additional fare up to 500 KRW depending on distance.
Therefore, the maximum fare is 1,000 KRW.
Usage is limited to up to 4 times per day and 30 times per month per person.
However, any fare exceeding 30,000 KRW per trip based on regular taxi fares must be paid separately by the user.
This is because the fare system is designed based on a 30,000 KRW subsidy from the local government.
The registration procedure for transportation-disadvantaged individuals at the Jeonnam Regional Mobility Support Center can be guided through the center or call center.
