[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The Korean Bar Association announced on the 26th that it awarded the 19th and 20th Excellent Lawyer Awards.
Attorney Kim Jae-hee (41, 2nd Bar Exam), who represented former tennis player Kim Eun-hee, known as the 'first Me Too case in the sports world,' in a damages lawsuit against coach A, the perpetrator of sexual violence, was selected as an award recipient.
The Bar Association stated, "This is the first ruling establishing that the statute of limitations for claiming damages by victims of sexual violence should begin from the time they are diagnosed with disabilities due to aftereffects of sexual violence."
They also awarded Attorney Lee Kwang-won (46, 5th Bar Exam), saying, "He contributed to the abolition of the military detention system and improvement of military human rights by obtaining a constitutional court ruling declaring Article 57, Paragraph 2 of the Military Personnel Act unconstitutional."
Originally, the Excellent Lawyer Award is presented quarterly. However, due to the spread of COVID-19 this year, the 19th award ceremony was postponed and held together with the 20th ceremony on this day.
The 19th Excellent Lawyers selected were Attorneys Kim Ga-ram, Kim Han-ga-hee, Bang Kwang-ho, Jo Yong-ju, Cheon Ju-hyun, and Hong Min-ho; the 20th Excellent Lawyers were Attorneys Kim Jae-hee, Park Beom-jin, Lee Soo-jung, Han Yong-hyun, Lee Kwang-won, and Jeon Byeol.
