Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, emphasizing the promotion of the defense industry at the Department and Headquarters Directors' Meeting.

Gyeongnam Governor Park Wan-su emphasized the promotion of the defense industry at the department and bureau heads meeting on the 25th.
Governor Park said, “South Korea has grown remarkably as the world's 8th largest arms exporter, and international interest in security is rising.”
He added, “The plan to foster the defense industry is also included in the tasks of the 8th elected provincial administration,” citing ▲ the establishment of a civil-military MRO (Maintenance Repair Operation) system combining 4th Industrial Revolution technologies and the defense industry ▲ technology development for defense small and medium enterprises ▲ creation of a defense innovation cluster through export support.
At the meeting, Governor Park also spoke about the development of tourist sites such as Jangmok Tourist Complex.
He instructed, “When attracting private capital, ensure solid safeguards so that projects that do not generate profits for companies, like the Ungdong district case, do not fail to proceed properly.”
He also ordered the prompt establishment of a regional medical system by designating base hospitals by region, in addition to the Changwon area, to ensure residents receive timely medical services, not only during COVID-19 but at all times.
Regarding the construction of LNG power plants, he urged, “Please provide accurate information so that residents do not worry excessively about LNG power plants and hydrogen energy facilities, and strive to increase their understanding.”
On that day, Governor Park strongly stated, “The answer to how to run the provincial government lies in the field,” and “Policies should be created by understanding what residents, the beneficiaries of policies such as youth and women, want.”
He also requested, “Carefully analyze next year’s work report materials being processed by central government ministries to find areas the province can manage, and work hard on preparing new policies and national budget projects.”
After urging to strengthen communication to overcome generational gaps within the organization and to consider various measures to improve the working atmosphere, he emphasized performance-based personnel management related to the regular personnel reshuffle in August.
The meeting was also attended by newly appointed Executive Vice Governor Choi Man-rim, who took office that day.
Executive Vice Governor Choi expressed his ambition, saying, “We will strengthen the province’s policy functions and make administration work smartly,” and “I will do my best for the development of Gyeongnam as one team with all of you.”
