Gwangju Seo-gu Nongsung 1-dong 'Welfare Blind Spot Discovery Campaign' Launched

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The Hope Footsteps Group of Cherry Blossom Village in Nongsung 1-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Crisis Household Discovery Group) conducted a "Welfare Blind Spot Discovery Promotion Campaign" over two days from the 19th to the 20th to eliminate welfare blind spots and prevent solitary deaths.

According to Nongsung 1-dong, Seo-gu on the 25th, the Hope Footsteps Group of Cherry Blossom Village is a human safety net composed of the local community security council and welfare neighborhood leaders. It actively discovers single-person households with no external contact, caregiving and economically vulnerable households, and transfers the discovered households to the Dong Administrative Welfare Center.

This campaign subdivided vulnerable residential areas, including shantytowns and old houses vulnerable to summer heatwaves and heavy rains, into four zones, with each team circulating their assigned zone and distributing promotional materials to households.

In addition, street promotions were focused on areas with high pedestrian traffic.

Starting from the 26th, the committee members plan to conduct home visits and consultations to assess the living conditions, focusing on middle-aged and older single-person households residing in vulnerable residential areas.

Afterwards, the Dong Administrative Welfare Center will conduct re-consultations for the identified crisis households and provide customized welfare services according to the crisis situation.

Jo Young-sook, the private committee chairperson, said, "We ask for residents' great interest so that neighbors who desperately need help but do not receive support can be discovered early," and added, "We thank the Crisis Household Discovery Group members who participated in the promotional activities for vulnerable neighbors despite the hot weather."
