Kibo Expands Inter-Agency Data Linkage for Open Technology Trading Platform

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Korea Technology Finance Corporation (Chairman Kim Jong-ho, hereinafter Kibo) announced on the 25th that it has completed database (DB) work on national R&D information, technology information roadmaps, and domestic academic paper information to build and provide services for the next-generation open technology trading and commercialization platform.

Since being designated as the dedicated institution for technology trading and commercialization in April, Kibo is currently building a digital platform with the goal of launching services by December this year. The open technology trading platform aims to activate technology trading and commercialization by linking and utilizing data such as technology trading and commercialization support information scattered across ministries, national R&D project information and performance information, and academic papers.

To this end, Kibo has completed data collection of approximately 960,000 national R&D project information and about 2.1 million performance information from NTIS (National Science and Technology Knowledge Information Service) of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information, and secured a dataset of 480,000 scientific and technological papers from the machine learning data sharing and utilization service of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology. Additionally, the system has been configured to link with the 32 fields of the SME Technology Information Roadmap from the Small and Medium Business Technology Information Promotion Agency, national support projects and R&D projects from the Small and Medium Business Venture Research Institute, and domestic academic paper information from the Korea Education Foundation.

Based on this, Kibo plans to provide AI-based user-customized recommendation services regarding information, technology, and business necessary for small and medium venture enterprises in the process of promoting technology trading and commercialization. Chairman Kim Jong-ho of Kibo said, "Through the establishment of the open technology trading platform, Kibo expects to significantly contribute to supporting technology trading and commercialization of small and medium enterprises and revitalizing the private-led technology trading market. Connecting data scattered across ministries is a core aspect of building the digital platform, and we will do our best to enhance the platform's service capabilities through continuous inter-ministerial data network connections to improve the technological competitiveness of small and medium venture enterprises."
