[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province is conducting a training program on excellent environmental policies for Indonesian public officials.
On the 25th, Suwon City announced that, together with the Suwon International Exchange Center, it will operate a total of eight sessions of the "Environmental City Creation Policy Training" by the 28th of this month to introduce Suwon's outstanding environmental policies to provincial government officials from Indonesia.
Through this training, the city plans to introduce various environmental policies established and implemented during the process of creating an environmental city, and share policy theories and cases of citizen participation to promote excellent policies to the international community.
The main training contents include ▲Environmental policies of Korea and Suwon City ▲Suwon City's waste management policy ▲Suwon City's water resource management policy ▲Safe water circulation city "Rain City Suwon" ▲Characteristics of Suwon's four major rivers and water governance ▲Achievements and cases of Suwon City's ecological environment experiential education, among others.
Participants will also conduct an "Action Plan Workshop," where they will concretize and implement environmental project and campaign plans that can be executed in Indonesia based on the training content.
A city official stated, "This training is a project to share experiences of creating eco-friendly cities with local governments in developing countries and to support the strengthening of technology capabilities in waste and water resource management," adding, "We hope that the education sharing Suwon's excellent environmental policies will contribute to Indonesia's economic and industrial development."
Meanwhile, this project was carried out after the "Environmental City Creation Training Project through Citizen Environmental Education and Transfer of Waste and Water Resource Management Technologies," jointly proposed by Suwon City and the Suwon International Exchange Center, was selected as a global training project proposed by government ministries of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in 2021. This project will be conducted over three years until 2023.
